Meet the Cute Butterfly — Our New 3D Printed Figure in Three Sizes

I've printed a lot of things since starting Heidi's 3D Prints. Dinosaurs, Creepers, octopuses, snakes, wall signs — but this might be my new favourite.

Meet the Cute Butterfly. She's chonky, she's colourful, and she has an expression that somehow manages to look both adorable and deeply unimpressed at the same time. I printed one and immediately printed two more to see how the sizes compared. Then I lined them all up and just stood there for a minute. They're so good.

What she looks like

The Cute Butterfly is a flat, wings-spread figure styled after a monarch butterfly — that classic deep orange and dark brown/black wing pattern that everyone instantly recognises. The wings have those beautiful open panel sections showing off the orange underneath, and the whole thing is edged in dark brown with a really satisfying printed texture.

The body is the real hero though. It's a chunky, segmented little shape — orange on top, dark underneath — with two tiny curled antennae on the head. And the eyes. She has these big, round, white eyes with a little dark pupil, and the combination of those eyes with that slightly grumpy expression is just everything. She lays flat, wings spread, completely freestanding on any flat surface.

Three sizes for three occasions

• Small (55mm wide × 40mm long × 23mm tall) — $3.00 NZD: Tiny but full of personality. At $3 each, these are perfect party bag fillers for a butterfly or nature-themed birthday party, desk trinkets, or impulse gifts. Grab a few — you'll use them.
• Medium (85mm wide × 65mm long × 35mm tall) — $10.00 NZD: The sweet spot. Enough size to really appreciate the wing detail and that expressive little face. Sits beautifully on a desk, bookshelf, or windowsill.
• Large (115mm wide × 85mm long × 45mm tall) — $15.00 NZD: She means business. Over 11cm wide, the wing panels and body texture look incredible at this size. A proper conversation piece for any shelf or desk.

All three sizes lined up together look absolutely brilliant — it's one of those "I'll just get one… actually make it three" situations, and I say that with zero apology.

Want a different colour?

The default is the classic monarch — orange and dark brown — but I can print these in absolutely any colour combination. Pink and purple? Black and gold? Glow in the dark wings with a yellow body? Just leave a note on your order and I'll make it happen. It's one of my favourite things about 3D printing — every colour tells a different story.
